For almost twenty years now, the Chinese National Circus has enchanted young and old alike with a show which seems to be more impressive every time. In the pure tradition of Chinese acrobatics, the CNC troupe combines a characteristic mastery of artistic style with some amazing feats of skill.
Today the Chinese National Circus has become a true ambassador of a new China the artistic dynamism of which is unmatched anywhere.

Confucius was born in 551 BC. Fascinated in writing, books and rituals, he rapidly became one of the most popular and respected thinkers. Beginning with the observation that it is not possible to live with wild birds and animals, and that it is therefore necessary to live in good society with those similar to oneself, Confucius wove a web of values with the aim of achieving harmony in human relations. He died in 479 BC after dedicating his life to teaching and to compiling ancient texts.

It is from that great archive that the Chinese National Circus has created the show “Confucius - 20 years of the Chinese National Circus”, a show abounding in colour and acrobatics where bodies and minds interact to create some exceptional figures.
Unique, stunning and even disconcerting artists will have you quivering, trembling, perhaps shaking, throughout this incredible show, which has already been seen by audiences counting several tens of thousands around the globe.

In 2008, the eyes of the world will be on the Olympic Games in China, a super power of economic growth and capitalism where unfortunately the old and mystical face of that huge country is often obscured.

With this show, it is that other face we see, the original, secret and mystical face. It is a show which takes the monks and teachers of Shaolin and Wudang as an example, a show revealing the classic elements of the kung-fu of Shaolin and the kung-fu of youth in all their perfection and skill. The basic elements of the art are the incredible exercises of pure Qi gong and collective combat exercises with classic weapons.

“The other face of China” is a family show lasting 2 hours based on the philosophy of zen buddhism and the phenomenal techniques of combat and of meditation practiced by the teachers of Shaolin and Wudang. The show reflects the unimaginable power of the mind. An absolute must!
